Livv revolutionizes healthcare by consolidating fragmented medical records into a single, accessible platform, enabling better patient care through comprehensive health data and improved doctor-patient communication.
50 years ago, healthcare looked very different. In most countries, a family doctor would keep track of patients’ health throughout their lives, keeping in mind the full medical context and history of each patient. The human mind is imperfect, and healthcare standards were lower, but at least someone had the information needed over time to understand the individual’s health context.
Nowadays, most patients will change health care providers many times throughout their life, and in many countries patients will see a new provider each time they visit the same clinic. This means that the patient’s medical context is no longer centralized, but is distributed among the thousands of medical records that doctor appointments generate.
Keeping track of medical records is tough. A single patient’s health records are spread out across various electronic systems - at least one for each city or country the patient has lived in - and often a separate one for each health care provider the patient has had throughout their life.
These EMR systems have become our digital basements with information piling up, and not being used. They often contain important medical information which, if used, could improve the quality of care for the patients, help prevent future medical issues, and save a lot of patient time in recounting all of the relevant parts of their full medical history when they visit a new provider for the first time.
"My personal health records are spread across seven countries and countless EMRs, and ultimately used by nobody. Livv solves this."- Magnus Hambleton, Investor at byFounders
Livv changes how medical records are managed and shared. Their platform brings a patient’s health records into one easy-to-access place. Livv can automatically imports records from past medical providers' databases, or let you manually upload files from your medical history — be it photographs, pdfs, images or time series data from your wearables. Patients can then share their complete "Medical CV" with new doctors through Livv’s easy-to-use health portal.
For doctors, Livv makes it easy to see the most important parts of a patient’s medical history before or during appointments (with the patient’s permission, of course). This helps them provide better, faster, and more personalized care. Livv also connects with wearable devices to track health data, promoting preventative care. Plus, it allows patients and doctors to communicate and follow up between visits as needed.
Long term, aggregating medical data and allowing its active use and collection over time sets the scene for moving healthcare in the direction it needs to go: away from reactive, towards proactive. Much of the global healthcare industry is trying to implement preventative care. But there have been two primary bottlenecks in getting there:
Livv is tackling both of these problems to unlock personalized preventative care at the population level.
